On the Trail of History

June 17 2017 - 25 2020

The Danish Railway Museum is opening a new, large outdoor learning and play area on 17 June. There will be a huge steam engine and a water tower rising almost eight metres. Children will have the opportunity to explore the driver’s cab and the steam engine, learning how the engine works with the firebox and the smoke box. They can also climb the water tower and then slide down from the top.

On the Trail of History is based on real exhibits which you find inside the building and in the grounds surrounding the Museum. See the large steam engine in the exhibition and visit the supply plant with the water crane by the turntable.

NEW EXPERIENCE: A journey through Denmark

When we will be opening our new learning and play area, we will also have completed an entirely new mini-train installation which is set in historical railway environments in miniature. The journey will start at Copenhagen Central Station, and on the way, passengers will cross the old Little Belt Bridge and drive through a Great Belt ferry and a small provincial town on the railway network. The mini-trains are based on real trains, such as the MY engine and the MA express train.

On the Trail of History opens on 17 June and will remain a permanent exhibition for the Museum’s visitors for many years to come. It is particularly suitable for our youngest visitors.
